Stevan P. Layne, CPP, CIPM, CIPI

Steve Layne is the Principal and CEO of Layne Consultants International and Founding Director of the International Foundation for Cultural Property Protection. Mr. Layne has served as a Police Chief, Public Safety Director, and Museum Security Director. He presently serves on the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) Museum, Library, and Cultural Properties Council and the American Association of Museums (AAM) - Museum Association Security Committee. Mr. Layne is the author of the Cultural Property Protection Manual and the Business Survival Guide, and co-author of Suggested Practices in Museum Security. He has previously produced media productions for business, government, and industry as well as numerous articles for national publications. Mr. Layne has provided protection planning, risk assessment, system design and training for hundreds of businesses and institutions across the U.S. and abroad. Steve is a leading presenter and keynote speaker at over 50 national conferences and business symposiums annually. He is the guiding force behind CIPM, CIPS, CIPT, and CIPI certification programs. He has served as an instructor for the National Crime Prevention Institute, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, National Park Service, ASIS, ALA, and AAM national and regional conferences. Steve is a graduate of the FBI's Police Management Program, the U.S. Army's Infantry Officer Candidate School, and Career Officer Military Police School.

Experience:
A graduate of Missouri Military Academy, Steve Layne began his law enforcement career as a Military Police field commander. Completing service as a U.S. Army Captain, he later served as a police chief, criminal investigator, museum security director, and public safety director. He has been designated as a Certified Protection Professional by the American Society for Industrial Security, and Certified Institutional Protection Manager & Instructor by the International Foundation for Cultural Property Protection (IFCPP). He is an expert witness for cases involving due diligence in security management, and is an instructor and visiting lecturer for universities and community colleges. Steve is responsible for the design and implementation of comprehensive security programs for a wide variety of organizations. He is recognized as a keynote presenter and seminar leader for a number of professional associations and business groups.
